Duck… Duck…. Duck….. Duck…. No Geese!!

Hello my Darlin Dears, wonderful meadow creatures that nestle into the warmth of just tilled topsoil & you hilarious Gnomes who fight over viewing space of “their” new baby ducks,

Miss Lamb your collector of baby animals farmer,

Early Bird Acres has expanded in the last week☺

I would like to introduce to you the newest additions to my little homestead…

…The baby ducks!!

I am starting out with only 15 little ones (& two rogue baby chicks), but after these are a month old, I will be getting another group of 15☺

As some of you might already know, I am trying to achieve an amazing Foie Gras in a natural way, & these little babies are my subjects☺ should be a lovely and interesting adventure…

A balance of natural greens & foods filled with fatty oils a bit later in their lives shall be their destiny…. They will be living in a new A Frame duck tractor next to my lovely hilly pond across from my cottage. Luckily the pond is brimming with new growth and spring rain, so I believe the Ducks will be happier than peaches.

I look forward to the days of traipsing out to the pond and having a lovely picnic with the ducks & Fred the donkey. I do believe that Doris the donkey will be going back up to Oklahoma City & living on my parents farm ‘Lamb’s Lowlines’. I know Fred will miss his girlfriend, but goodbyes are not forever. In addition, in 5 months or so, Doris will be having a baby Donkey. I can only imagine what Fred’s offspring will be like…. For those of you who know Fred, you know what I mean.

I ask of you today to go and appreciate your local birds. Weather it is the sparrows in the trees, the red bird in your elm or your very own chickens or ducks, go say kind words to them. Send them kisses…

I as sure as the day do love you…

Milled grain, fresh yogurt & baby duck feed in the form of torn sweet grass from a child’s hand,

Yours truly,

The Ash In Our Clothes, The Spring In The Rain

Hello my Darlin Dears, wonderful meadow creatures who linger a long while in the sweet grass & you adorable Gnomes who are as I type scouting out spots where Sand Plums are blossoming & thriving,

Miss Lamb your wearing wild flowers in her hair farmer here,

Ooohhhhh music… I adore it…

I need it in fact..

So does my garden…

…& so does my art☺

In a recent post over on his website, my amazing good friend Ryan O’Neal, who goes under the name Sleeping At Last, went into detail about how he wrote the amazing song “The Ash In Our Clothes” for one of my art instillations ☺

Click here to read the post Darlin Dears…

Ryan has become one of my very best creative brainstorming friends in this sweet old world… it is really great to be able to talk to someone who can understand your pathless meadow of a mind and give you great advice in return…

What I ask of you today is to act on your own inspiration, or go out & encourage one of your friends to truly make their project come to fruition…

They will love you for it ☺

I sure do love you…

Lovely days, Mandolins & Banjos in the east pasture,

Miss Samantha Joelle Honey Lamb

P.s.... do not forget about my last post:) Help a farmer & artist out:)

That Old Wooden Stump, Stained in blood...

Hello my Darlin Dears, wonderful meadow creatures that chase small bugs through the flowers & you festive Gnomes who are making preparations for our mini “first day of spring” celebration,

For them though, every day is the first day of spring,

Miss Lamb here your Sam Cooke loving farmer here,

Well, the time has come for the large rooster here at Early Bird Acres.

As you might have guessed, I am a meat eater...

You could say I was raised by Wolves... I ran with them through open fields & entwined flowers in their fur :)

I am the girl that always asks for my meat as rare as possible....

Wanting to be a conscious meat eater, this Thursday I am loading up the flock of Roosters and headed down to good old Walnut Creek Farms to have Farmer Andy help me with chicken slaughter.

They had a great life, & they as sure as the day will make great soup, grilled chicken, Sunday Fried chicken, brie stuffed chicken, pesto and wine smeared chicken… it goes on and on…

Hahah… I recently made a playlist for a special picnic I had…. It was full of Sam Cooke & Otis Redding… I was trying to only make more smiles ….

What kind of playlist do you make for chicken slaughter…

Gillian Welch seems soothing yet strong..

Ray Lamontagne might ease a chicken soul into the next life…

I might get to emotional if I put on J Tillman…

Maybe I will just stick with my bluegrass classics… a little Stanley Brothers…. Maybe Monroe… Roscoe would put a spring in my hatchet hand…

Any suggestions ?:)

Well, I am of to go and forage for some wild greens & know this…

As sure as the day, I do love you…

Open Books, patterned quilts & tomahawks,

The Milk That Makes My Cheese

Hello my Darlin Dears, wonderful meadow creatures whom hide in the clover & wild mustard …& of course you darling Gnomes who are wanting me to take them with me when I go to see a possible new Jersey Milk Cow this weekend (they have kin folk apparently at this particular farm… they want to say “Hi”…really, I think they just want to see the baby cows),

Miss Lamb your raw milk cheese-making farmer here,

Goodness gracious…. Can we say busy?:)

I will tell you folks about it a bit at a time, but I am really digging myself a lovely tilled bed of new growth & rich topsoil☺

I do adore Topsoil☺

At the top of the Queue is getting a lovely addition to my milking heard!!

Miss Ohio is not due till the end of the summer, so as far as raw milk goes I am at a pause for a bit until she freshens (produces new milk…& it is her second calf, so it is sure to be a great milk season)…

It felt odd driving to a local farm to grab some milk from their intake tanks… But, I cannot live without my Mozzarella

With that, I think I have found her…

She is currently living in Newalla & she as sure as the day has Early Bird Acres written all over her. She is sweet, can be milked at any spot in the pasture, halter broke, lovable…

I can’t wait to meet her:)

With that, in order for me to bring her home, I am trying to adopt out extra prints this lovely week…

Including this lovely limited edition print, upon lovely demand☺

Stories Of The Spring, Being Told Into The Fall

Click here to check it out :)

For this week only, I am adopting them out for a cheaper price too…

In addition, you can get these two lovely prints….

…Which match wonderfully, for your lovely home.

If you just simply want to help out Early Bird Acres, you can always donate towards the milk cow fund via Pay Pal.

In return, I would love to do an original watercolor of Vegetables for you.

I do not usually sell them, so I hope that this would be a special gift from my homestead to yours…. Just make sure you include your snail mail in your personal message.

Last but not least, how about some postcards?

How about 20 postcards for $10 bucks?:)

Well then look right here my darlin dear☺

A variety of mixed matched images for your precious writing drawer or to frame.

I wish you all a lovely Monday darlin dears and I appreciate your spring support loves.

I as true as the day love you, and hope to see your face at EBA very soon… let me make you some cheese…

Wild Flowers, Water Colors & The Way we lay side by side,

Miss Samantha Joelle Honey Lamb
